Day 9: Prayers for Honor

"Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!" Matthew 26:41

Day 9: Honor

hon·or [on-er]
(as defined on Dictionary.com)
  1. honesty, fairness, or integrity in one's beliefs or actions: a man of honor
  2. a source of credit or distinction: to be an honor to ones family
  3. high respect, as for worth, merit, or rank: to be held in honor
  4. such respect manifested: a memorial in honor of the dead
  5. high public esteem, fame, glory: he has earned his position of honor

Among the attributes we desire for our sons is honor. We pray that they will be men of integrity, honesty, and fairness. That they will be respected and have worth. But above praying that they will have these things we pray that they will use these things to bring the glory back to God. That in every situation that they are brought honor that they will direct the honor back to The One in whom all honor is due. We pray that our sons would use all positions they are in as a wittness, that they will never forget to give credit where credit is due.

When you live your life in the shadow of the Father, constantly seeing His mighty hand at work, feeling His presence in all circumstances, and seeking His direction in all things it is hard not to live a life glorifying to God and it is hard not to receive honor from others. We pray that all the honor our sons receive is because of the work they are doing to further the Kingdom of God.

Lord, we pray that in all things our sons do that honor and glory will be brought to you. We pray that they will live their lives not seeking glory and honor for themselves, but that in all circumstances they receive honor that it will be for the things they have done in service to you. We pray that you will use their lives, that they will be placed in positions of honor, that they will be men of honesty, integrity, and be highly respected among others. Lord, use our sons for great and mighty things for the Kingdom...

AMEN.
